Kabuseicha かぶせ煎茶 is one of the traditional high-quality Japanese teas.
Kabuse translates to "covered or shaded" This Sencha is shaded for two weeks before being harvested in early spring. The shade reduces sunlight by as much as 85% to encourage the plants to produce wide, tender, chlorophyll-rich tea leaves.
The jade-green liquor is followed by an intense umami flavor. Kabuse Sencha is vegetal with subtle notes of spinach and a thick mouthfeel.
This tea is delicate and best brewed at around 60 degrees for 1.30 mins to enjoy its rich Umami notes.
